In order to support learning and teaching innovation of Bocconi University, we are looking for a
Learning Designer for Higher Education to join our Educational Innovation Center, BUILT (Bocconi Innovations in Learning and Teaching), that becomes part of the R&D on teaching experiments and search for innovative methods, as well as the designing of enhanced learning experiences (e.g. design, development and monitoring of high quality online and blended learning experiences), also with the effective use of AI tools.

Opportunity and key responsibilities
S/he will be working with academic and staff members on mapping and assessing courses’ needs and requirements, developing learning outcomes, defining appropriate teaching and assessment methods, designing and creating multimedia and interactive content by applying instructional design models and innovative methods and tools. S/he will be involved in writing clear and effective courses’ outlines and storyboards, training faculty initiatives on the design and delivery of their courses, facilitating internal training events with peers on the opportunities of innovative learning methods, with a focus on hybrid education experiences.

LEARNING DESIGN
- Understanding, assessing and mapping of learning and teaching needs
- Course design
- Storyboarding
- Development of instructional resources
- Learning environment set up
- Monitoring and evaluation of learning experiences
RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT
- exploration, analysis and research on AI scenarios for creating enhanced learning and teaching experiences
TRAINING AND SUPPORT
- Leading demo sessions and actively contributing to training initiatives for faculty members on teaching methods and design models and methods
- Reviewing/Editing of training material on teaching and learning practices
Qualifications and requirements
- Degree in Education, Instructional designing (and/or a post-graduate specialization in learning design/multimedia learning)
- At least 2 years of work experience in the field of instructional design with a focus on online or hybrid education
- Fluency in English (minimum B2 level)
- Knowledge of LMS such as Blackboard ULTRA, Canvas
- At least 6 months of international experience
- Ability to work in a cross-activities, collaborative team environment
- Good organizational skills, follow-through, and ability to handle multiple projects under deadline
- Tools and technologies: Office365 suite (e.g. at least, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and preferably Ms Project and PowerBI) Articulate 360, Adobe CC Suite, web design tools
- Soft skills: curiosity, passion and enthusiasm, communication skills, time management, working under pressure, problem-solving orientation and creative thinking

What is the opportunity?
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Learning Designer with native or near-native fluency in Italianto lead the design and development of high-quality online degree programmes in collaboration with our partner universities. This role is pivotal in ensuring our online learning experiences are pedagogically sound, engaging, and aligned with best practices in digital education.
As a Learning Designer, you will work directly with academic teams, primarily from Italian institutions, to co-design programmes and modules that reflect excellence in online learning. You will help define the overall learning model for each programme, facilitate collaborative design workshops, and act as a subject matter expert in learning design and digital pedagogy.
What success looks like :
- Lead the design and development of online degree programmes in collaboration with partner universities, primarily in Italy.
- Set and maintain the overall learning model and pedagogical framework for each programme, ensuring consistency and quality.
- Facilitate collaborative workshops and consultations with academic staff to co-design curriculum and learning activities.
- Provide guidance and training to faculty on best practices in online pedagogy, assessment design, learner engagement, and accessibility.
- Translate complex academic content into clear, learner-centred digital experiences.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including content producers, media teams, technologists, and project managers to ensure successful delivery.
- Review and provide feedback on draft content and learning materials to maintain academic rigour and pedagogical effectiveness.
- Support quality assurance processes, including mapping to national and institutional standards.
- Stay informed about trends and innovations in digital learning and bring new ideas to improve our design approach.
What you bring to the table :
- Significant experience in learning design or instructional design, particularly in higher education.
- Proven experience leading the development of online programmes or courses.
- Strong knowledge of online and blended learning pedagogy, learning models, and assessment practices.
- Excellent facilitation and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with academic staff.
- Experience designing for virtual learning environments (e.g. Canvas, Moodle, Blackboard) and digital tools.
- Strong attention to detail, organisational skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
- Experience working with Italian universities or in an Italian higher education context.
- Familiarity with flexible learning pathways.
- Knowledge of relevant global QA and accreditation frameworks.
- Native or near-native fluency in Italian both written and spoken a must, working proficiency in English desirable.
