Responsibilities

Responsible for all aspects of the fire engineering disciplines on site including Inspections of Fire Protection and Detection systems, PA / VA Systems, Compartmentation, Fire Dampers, Smoke Extract / Pressurization systems, Fixed Extinguishing / Sprinkler systems.

Experienced in producing Fire Risk Assessments for all types of buildings, including but not limited to Commercial, Public and Industrial Buildings, in particular in relation to national and international codes and standards Requirements (CEN, UNI, NFPA, FMG).

Experienced in fire safety and protection for all types of buildings, including a wide variety of occupancy types, in particular industrial facilities, commercial buildings, retail complexes, amongst others.

Carrying out functional testing and witness testing of all fire systems, carry out regular site inspection at an early stage to ensure compliance to local codes and regulations, liaise with clients, architects, consultants from other disciplines, and approval authorities, ensuring the fire systems meet the approved cause and effects and producing engineering judgements for review.

  • Conduct building and fire code reviews and analyses
  • Design and commissioning of fire suppressionsystems
  • Prepare and present technical reports and presentations
  • Be a key player in Business Development activities

Here’s what you will need

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Engineering Architecture, or related field
  • Experience in code consulting, design of fire protection systems, and developing performance-based strategies in a project design environment is required
  • Registered Professional Engineer
  • A good proficiency of English, spoken and written, is preferred. JH provide 1 : 1 English courses to fill gaps, if any.
  • Excellent report writing and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to present clear and technically sound fire protection engineering strategies and good communication and negotiations skills

    Job Overview

    Jensen Hughes has a career opportunity for a passionate Associate Fire Protection Engineer in Milan, Italy in 2025. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and knowledge in fire life safety projects and permitting process with the National Fire Brigade. The Engineer will work alongside leading fire safety professionals as peers and mentors.

    Responsibilities

    • Application of the national and international regulations and standards on Fire and Life Safety in the various areas of corporate interest (civil, commercial and industrial).
    • Team work on specific Fire Prevention projects: drawing up of drawings and technical reports according to company templates.
    • Project Review, Codes Consultancy.
    • Field inspections (mainly in Italy)
    • Advice and promotion of fire safety science
    • Application of risk analysis models

    Requirements and Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or Engineering (as a reference Civil, Construction, Chemical, Hydraulic, Mechanical, Nuclear, Environmental engineering).
    • Italian language fluency, written and spoken is essential. Excellent knowledge of English, written and spoken is desired.
    • Willingness to travel, often with overnight stays.
    • Excellent knowledge of MS Office and 2D AutoCAD and 3D BIM.
    • The possession of registration on the lists of the Ministry of the Interior pursuant to law 818/84, although recent, is not mandatory but will be considered as a preferential skill.
    • Passion for the study of scientific subjects.
    • Proactivity, operational autonomy, empathy and positive attitude with the customer.
    • Direct insertion with a 36-month professional apprenticeship contract, if not in possession of registration on the lists of the Ministry of the Interior 818/84. Otherwise, the RAL will be determined on the basis of any previous experience and evaluating the actual skills achieved.
    • A minimum 2 years of work experience, would be preferred.

    To set you up for success in this role from day one (at a minimum) the following qualifications/experience are required:

    • Qualification in computer-aided design, drafting preferred.
    • Good communications and writing skills.
    • Meticulous attention to detail.
    • Team player

    **Job Overview**

    The Associate Fire Protection Engineer, after the initial training which will be centred on study and application of the fire prevention permitting legislation with particular focus on the Fire Prevention Code, will be included in the Fire Prevention team, dealing with:
