The ER Manager is a key role within the EU EXR (Employee Experience and Relations) Field organization, reporting within the Country EXR organization. The ER Manager role requires an individual who has significant employee and labour relations experience, deep subject matter expertise, and strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.

The role involves helping to develop and implement strategies to address country labour relations challenges for on the road operational business lines and providing labour relations support by collaborating with operational teams to advance company objectives. The role acts as strategic partner for Operations, Delivery Service Partner Management team, and other key internal / external stakeholders.

The primary focus is to drive EXR operational excellence, goals, strategy, while addressing the ER needs within a specific country geography. Leading through complex labour issues and crisis situations with sound judgment and effective communication is key to this role.

The base location within Italy is flexible, with Rome or Naples offered as a suggested base.

Key job responsibilities

Labour Relations Strategy

  • Strategy Development : Support the Head of Country to create and implement the EXR strategy.
  • Country Execution : deliver business line-specific goals and key initiatives, adhering to the approved EXR priorities and standards.
  • Risk Mitigation : Utilise expertise in employee and labour relations to identify potential issues, predict risks, and develop effective strategies to mitigate them.
  • Own Your ER Environment : Monitor your internal EXR environment through standard tools and mechanisms, as well as your external operating context (including new regulations and peer practices).
  • Stakeholder Collaboration : Build and maintain influential relationships with Operations, as well as other critical stakeholders, to gather information, feedback, support.
  • Project Management : Independently manage projects and initiatives aimed at achieving country-level and business line level results.

Operational Excellence

  • Analytical Skills : Use data and anecdotes to develop recommendations and measure strategy success.
  • Compliance : ensure full compliance of EXR decisions and activities. Flag risks and recommend alternative solutions to maximize compliance.
  • Deliver Innovation : Develop and deliver solutions that challenge current practices and industry status quo.
  • Fostering the Culture : Assess engagement mechanisms and signals that maintain positive workplace environments.
  • Site Visits : Routinely visit Amazon operation sites and develop proactive and reactive strategies to mitigate ER risk.
  • Writing Skills : Generate and contribute to EXR reporting activities.

The position reports to the Head of Employee and Experience Relations Italy, within the EU Employee Experience and Relations Team at Amazon. This is a full-time position that will require up to 50% of travel throughout Italy and beyond on occasion, sometimes with little or no notice.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in employee relations, labour relations, or labour / employment Italian law
  • Master’s Degree in Human Resources, Employment Law, Labour Relations or MBA.
  • Fluent in both spoken and written Italian and English (CEFR, C2) in Italian and English (written and spoken)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in distribution, logistics and / or transportation industries
  • Excellent analytical skills, flexibility and organizational skills.

The EU Employee Relations Manager looks after the European Work Council journey, our ER project & policies control system as well as our total reward ambition across Operations EU; this role is part of the Employee Experience and Relations (EXR) team, reporting directly to the EU EXR Risk, Project & Compliance leader. The position requires close collaboration with various stakeholders across functions, business lines, and countries to ensure effective ER strategies’ execution. By doing so, this role enhances EXR effectiveness, contributes to business agility and speed as well as to the positive experience of Associates.

This role can be performed from the following countries : France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Luxembourg, UK. There will be travel required up to 30% of the time, mostly within the EU.

EUROPEAN WORKS COUNCIL (EWC) MANAGEMENT
  • Lead the preparation of EWC meetings across all functions, Business Lines, and countries.
  • Coordinate the 2026 EWC election journey as the pan-EU Single Threaded Leader.
  • Participate in EWC meetings and Select Committee meetings, and lead vendor relationships to secure logistical details.
  • Lead the EXR effort to ensure Amazon's readiness considering the EWC directive revisions, including : a) Conducting gap analysis vs. existing agreement in collaboration with Legal. b) Developing potential renegotiation or amendment strategies to address compliance gaps and improvement opportunities. c) Contributing to EWC amendment / negotiation following strategy approval.
PROJECTS & POLICIES COORDINATION
  • Supervise the EXR change management effort for projects and initiatives, including a) Promoting exhaustive intake across all functions, Business Lines, and countries for projects affecting workplaces. b) Identifying process gaps and paths for improvement of the EXR end-to-end process. c) Facilitating escalation and problem-solving for business-critical projects. d) Owning EWC engagement strategy when projects require it. e) Providing monthly updates and lead continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate the Policy journey, as the primary EXR Subject matter expert for the Human resources policy team across EU.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS LIAISON
  • Serve as the pan-EU Point of Contact for Compensation & Benefits challenges and opportunities, aiming to promote our total reward value proposition for employees.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • University degree and experience in employee relations, labor relations, or labor / employment law with an emphasis on labor.
  • Understanding of EU labor laws, particularly those related to European Works Councils
  • Experience in managing complex projects and / or programs within matrix environment.
  • Fluency in both written and spoken English (Common European Framework of Reference, C2) and at least one other European language, including but not limited to, French, Spanish, Italian, German.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience working on complex labor challenges at EU country or pan-EU level.
  • Experience in change management and project coordination in a matrix and multinational environment
  • Familiarity with compensation and benefits practices and challenges in the EU context
  • Organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Experience analyzing metrics and assessing sentiment data to find root causes and develop short-, medium-, and long-term plans.

    The EU Employee Relations Manager looks after the European Work Council journey, our ER project & policies control system as well as our total reward ambition across Operations EU; this role is part of the Employee Experience and Relations (EXR) team, reporting directly to the EU EXR Risk, Project & Compliance leader. The position requires close collaboration with various stakeholders across functions, business lines, and countries to ensure effective ER strategies’ execution. By doing so, this role enhances EXR effectiveness, contributes to business agility and speed as well as to the positive experience of Associates.

    This role can be performed from the following countries : France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Luxembourg, UK. There will be travel required up to 30% of the time, mostly within the EU.

    EUROPEAN WORKS COUNCIL (EWC) MANAGEMENT
    • Lead the preparation of EWC meetings across all functions, Business Lines, and countries.
    • Coordinate the 2026 EWC election journey as the pan-EU Single Threaded Leader.
    • Participate in EWC meetings and Select Committee meetings, and lead vendor relationships to secure logistical details.
    • Lead the EXR effort to ensure Amazon's readiness considering the EWC directive revisions, including : a) Conducting gap analysis vs. existing agreement in collaboration with Legal. b) Developing potential renegotiation or amendment strategies to address compliance gaps and improvement opportunities. c) Contributing to EWC amendment / negotiation following strategy approval.
    PROJECTS & POLICIES COORDINATION
    • Supervise the EXR change management effort for projects and initiatives, including a) Promoting exhaustive intake across all functions, Business Lines, and countries for projects affecting workplaces. b) Identifying process gaps and paths for improvement of the EXR end-to-end process. c) Facilitating escalation and problem-solving for business-critical projects. d) Owning EWC engagement strategy when projects require it. e) Providing monthly updates and lead continuous improvement.
    • Coordinate the Policy journey, as the primary EXR Subject matter expert for the Human resources policy team across EU.
    COMPENSATION & BENEFITS LIAISON
    • Serve as the pan-EU Point of Contact for Compensation & Benefits challenges and opportunities, aiming to promote our total reward value proposition for employees.
    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
    • University degree and experience in employee relations, labor relations, or labor / employment law with an emphasis on labor.
    • Understanding of EU labor laws, particularly those related to European Works Councils
    • Experience in managing complex projects and / or programs within matrix environment.
    • Fluency in both written and spoken English (Common European Framework of Reference, C2) and at least one other European language, including but not limited to, French, Spanish, Italian, German.
    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
    • Experience working on complex labor challenges at EU country or pan-EU level.
    • Experience in change management and project coordination in a matrix and multinational environment
    • Familiarity with compensation and benefits practices and challenges in the EU context
    • Organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities
    • Experience analyzing metrics and assessing sentiment data to find root causes and develop short-, medium-, and long-term plans.
    • Communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively, up to Senior leadership level.
    • Capable of working independently in fast paced, ambiguous environments.

    • Risk Mitigation : Utilise expertise in employee and labour relations to identify potential issues, predict risks, and develop effective strategies to mitigate them.
    • Own Your ER Environment : Monitor your internal EXR environment through standard tools and mechanisms, as well as your external operating context (including new regulations and peer practices).
    • Stakeholder Collaboration : Build and maintain influential relationships with Operations, as well as other critical stakeholders, to gather information, feedback, support.
    • Project Management : Independently manage projects and initiatives aimed at achieving country-level and business line level results.

    • Analytical Skills : Use data and anecdotes to develop recommendations and measure strategy success.
    • Compliance : ensure full compliance of EXR decisions and activities. Flag risks and recommend alternative solutions to maximize compliance.
    • Deliver Innovation : Develop and deliver solutions that challenge current practices and industry status quo.
    • Fostering the Culture : Assess engagement mechanisms and signals that maintain positive workplace environments.
    • Site Visits : Routinely visit Amazon operation sites and develop proactive and reactive strategies to mitigate ER risk.
