Director of Leisure Sales, Mandarin Oriental Milan & Paris

Mandarin Oriental, Milan is a stylish and intimate hotel, featuring 104 guestrooms, including 32 suites. The hotel features a fine-dining restaurant, Seta, and a bar-bistro, Mandarin Garden + Bistrot where an eclectic choice of contemporary cuisine and cocktails are offered. The Spa at Mandarin Oriental, Milan is the city's most comprehensive with an indoor pool and six private treatment rooms. The hotel has two versatile function rooms.

About the job

Based at the Mandarin Oriental, Milan within the Sales Department in Milan, the Director of Leisure Sales is responsible for overseeing the Leisure Sales strategy for the hotel in Milan and, since MOMLN & MOPAR belong to the same Group of companies, could be involved in the Leisure Sales strategy for the Mandarin Oriental, Paris. The Director of Leisure Sales reports to the Director of Sales.

Responsibilities
  • Ensures coverage of assigned and responsible multi-markets
  • Responsible for the account management of key and prospect accounts
  • Attends customer events, trade shows and sales missions to maintain, build and develop key relationships with local and international leisure travel partners
  • Actively prospect and generate new business from leisure market
  • Conducts weekly meetings with the Sales Team to track performance and monitor effectiveness of strategies
  • Carries out site visits as per company standards
  • Executes exemplary customer service to drive customer satisfaction and loyalty by assisting the customer and ensuring their satisfaction before and during their stay/program/event
  • Maintains continual awareness of current and future competitors, for example but not limited to product, published offers/pricing, renovation plans, inventory, etc
  • Achieves annual revenue goal based on budget
  • Implements strategic actions based on hotel segmentation
  • Collaborates with the marketing team to align campaigns and promotions with leisure sales initiatives
  • Works closely with the reservations and revenue teams to optimize leisure segment pricing and availability
  • Participates on branded conference calls
  • Communicates with Regional Sales Offices in assigned territories to maximize sales opportunities
Qualifications
  • Must be excellent in using computer and well versed in all computer applications
  • Must work well in stressful high-pressure situations; maintain composure and objectivity under pressure
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to work in dynamic and fast-changing environment
  • Must have an established network of connections
  • Excellent business negotiation and customer relationship management skills
  • Available to travel abroad
  • Excellent communication skills in all aspects: verbal, written and non-verbal
  • Fluent in Italian and English. Additional languages would be beneficial
  • Professional and appropriate business appearance and presentation
  • Quality driven with a passion for excellence
  • Degree or Higher National Diploma equivalent in Hospitality/Hotel/Business Management
  • Minimum 8/10 years of experience working in a 5-star hotel environment within Sales and Banqueting
  • A minimum 3 years of experience in a leadership role

The hotel has two versatile function rooms. The Director of Leisure Sales is responsible for developing and executing the Leisure Sales strategy for Milan, with potential involvement in Paris as part of the Group.

  • Manage key and prospect leisure accounts.
  • Attend customer events, trade shows and sales missions to build and sustain relationships with local and international leisure travel partners.
  • Prospect and generate new business from the leisure market.

  • Carry out site visits per company standards.
  • Provide exemplary customer service to drive satisfaction and loyalty before, during and after stay/program/event.
