Engineering Managers should be outstanding developers themselves. They should be completely at home reviewing a patch or a software design spec. You will be expected to drive healthy engineering practices, documentation, quality and performance optimisations as well as lead your team to deliver high-quality design and code.

An Engineering Manager is responsible for line management and career guidance. The ability to develop engineering talent, to represent your team and product from a technical perspective, and to drive collaboration with other teams and customers are all critical to success in this role.

You will have the opportunity to influence the culture, facilitate technical delivery, and work with your team on strategy and execution.

What your day will look like

• Lead and develop a team of engineers, ranging from graduate to senior
• Oversee commercial engagements and support timely delivery on agreed project milestones
• Participate as technical lead on complex customer engagements involving complete system architectures
• Implement disciplined engineering processes
• Integrate and maintain platform-oriented software stacks
• Optimize Ubuntu for latest hardware platforms
• Display technical leadership internally and within our external communities

• Exceptional academic track record from both high school and university
• Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or STEM, or a compelling narrative about your alternative path
• Fluency in C, C++, and Python
• Experience with Linux and operational systems software (e.g. kernel or user space)
• Experience with Debian/Ubuntu or other distro packaging
• Experience leading software engineering teams
• Professional written and spoken English
• Confidence to respectfully speak up, exchange feedback, and share ideas without hesitation
• Thoughtfulness, and self-motivation
• Result-oriented, with a personal drive to meet commitments

Responsibilities

• Collaborate within an agile, multidisciplinary engineering team (Cybersecurity, Software, Mechanics, RF, Safety, Design, Service, Manufacturing) to develop new products and enhance existing ones.
• Conduct studies, simulations, and validations of innovative concepts, verifying their performance on real systems.
• Author and maintain comprehensive System Specifications and define external product interfaces.
• Analyze System/Subsystem Specification (SSS) requirements to identify and implement necessary hardware and software modifications.
• Support hardware and software teams in the definition of subsystem specifications and interfaces.
• Define integration and verification strategies, write detailed test procedures, and execute system integration, verification, and qualification activities.
  
  
  

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (preferably Electronics, Telecommunications, Computer Science, Mechanics, or related fields).
• Minimum 4+ years of experience in System Engineering roles involving complex products.
• Broad technical knowledge across Electronics, Software, Telecommunications, Mechanics, and Radio Frequency domains.
• Proficient with standard office tools (MS Office Suite).
• Strong analytical, synthetic, and autonomous problem-solving skills, with the ability to seek support when necessary.
• Fluent in English and Italian, both spoken and written; proficiency in German or French is considered a plus.
• Experienced in requirements management tools (e.g., DOORS) and issue tracking platforms (e.g., Jira).
• Team-oriented mindset, with the ability to collectively pursue and achieve project goals.
  
  
  

• Possess knowledge or hands-on experience with Surveillance and Navigation systems (such as ADS-B, MLAT, WAM, ILS, VOR, TACAN, DME…).
• Be familiar with aviation regulations and standards (ICAO, EN, ED129, ED142 and local regulations).
• Demonstrate strong self-motivation, critical thinking, and a genuine curiosity for learning and innovation.
• Exhibit excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

La risorsa entrerà a far parte del Management Team dell’area System Engineering and Equipment Integration Group (SEEIG), contribuendo attivamente alla gestione e allo sviluppo dei processi ingegneristici legati ai principali programmi in corso.

Attività

• Partecipazione ai tavoli di pianificazione progetto, con un ruolo attivo nella definizione delle strategie tecniche.
• Scrittura e gestione dei processi di ingegneria di sistema.
• Gestione e tracciamento dei requisiti, in stretta collaborazione con i team di progetto e gli stakeholder tecnici.

Requisiti richiesti (Hard Skills)

• Laurea in Ingegneria Aerospaziale o Ingegneria Meccanica.
• Conoscenze accademiche in ambito system engineering e ingegneria aerospaziale.
• Ottima conoscenza della lingua inglese, sia scritta che parlata.
• Buona padronanza del pacchetto Office.
• Gradita la conoscenza di MS Project.
• Disponibilità a trasferte e alla possibilità di trasferimento nel Regno Unito per un distacco di medio-lungo termine (3–5 anni).
