Internship Responsibilities and Opportunities

  1. Training on Vicente Scaramuzza piano technique through weekly sessions with Mtro. Juan Rezzuto. Experience with Scaramuzza Technique is advantageous.
  2. Training on British Piano Pedagogy and official syllabuses, provided by WKMT staff in weekly one-hour group meetings.
  3. One-to-one piano lessons with Juan Rezzuto available upon request and mutual agreement.
  4. The intern delivers up to 39 hours of tuition to students of all ages and levels at WKMT Kensington, WKMT Camberwell, and/or students’ homes, as directed by WKMT staff.
  5. Typically, each teacher teaches around 30-33 hours weekly, though this varies throughout the year.
  6. WKMT may offer accommodation options for interns living near studios, at £550/month, all bills included, with a digital or acoustic piano.
  7. Teaching one-to-one piano and keyboard lessons as per student needs and study plans.
  8. Preparing students for performances, exams, auditions, festivals, and gigs; maintaining records of student progress via our IT system.
  9. Participating in non-tutorial activities like performances and recordings.
  10. Performing basic office tasks.
  11. Developing student retention through effective teaching methods, including good communication, structure, and motivation.
  12. Supporting students in using internet resources.
  13. Hosting students with high hospitality standards, offering drinks and maintaining courtesy and presentation standards.
  14. Collaborating on WKMT’s SEO efforts, including backlinking, article and video production, keyword research, competitor analysis, citation audits, and other promotional activities.
Role Requirements
  1. Experience in teaching is preferred, but training is provided, and attendance at training sessions is granted after successful probation.
  2. Compliance with health and safety standards and child protection legislation.
  3. Proven record of artistic excellence or decency, such as recordings, concert programs, or press articles.
Additional Notes
  • Holidays should be taken during specified periods: 25th July to 1st September, and 18th December to 5th January. Some holidays may be exchanged for concert preparation days.
  • One day off per week, to be agreed with the studio, excluding weekends.
  • Teaching hours are unevenly distributed; efforts are made to cluster hours but may vary, with practice time available during spare hours.
  • Schedule changes may occur until the day before; students may book lessons spontaneously.
  • If a teacher is unable to teach, colleagues will cover hours as coordinated by the staff manager.
