A day in the life

This is a unique opportunity to be part of a strategic initiative at Outbrain. We expect you to be the visible leader and Top Client representative in the market (and internally) and the senior commercial leader for all existing key accounts, this includes holding QBR’s, doing negotiations and serving as an escalation point. You will be managing a team of individuals who are resourceful, bright, and proactive and who work well both independently. One challenge will be changing the mindset to be more commercial and working more strategically with account plans, etc. You can also expect a great working environment with a committed, energetic and international team.

Your first year should look like this

In your first month, you should find your bearings, get to know your team, do a deep dive into the Outbrain product, and start to build key internal and external relationships.

After three months, you will be an expert in (native) advertising and you’ll have mastered our positioning within the digital landscape. You’ll be able to confidently and effectively deliver our pitch and will have already completed several client meetings. You’ll have got to know your team in and out.

After six months, you will have successfully closed an abundance of business reviews, as well as have significantly grown a number of key existing accounts.

When you finish up your first year, you’ll be an essential part of Germany's commercial team and be the driving force behind taking the team to the next level.

Responsibilities

What you’ll need to be successful
  • Minimum 10+ years of digital Account Management experience in a Brand-Direct or an Agency facing role OR in a Senior Agency role
  • Robust knowledge of the digital marketing landscape including Programmatic & Video
  • Experience in working with media agencies and a network of relationships and a track record of building and growing relationships
  • Proven track record in Account Management and strong commercial acumen
  • Clear and concise communication skills and presentation style, for both internal and external stakeholders
  • A storyteller with the ability to build compelling presentations and reviews through data
  • A curious and self-starting nature
  • Capacity to coach / mentor / manage
  • Strategic planning ability and the drive to achieve and stretch targets
  • A willingness to “get stuck in” and be proactive
  • Team player and keen to work together with the Sales team to ensure client success
  • Organised - there is a lot to do!
  • Understanding and knowledge of the ad-tech, native, performance marketing and programmatic landscape

  • We are seeking an experienced Business Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the effective and efficient management of customer accounts, guaranteeing a correct understanding of customer needs in terms of expected deadlines, costs, service level, and technical requirements.

    The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, be business-oriented and client-focused, with professional knowledge of English. He / She will be responsible for preparing and constantly updating the commercial forecast and potential revenues, actively involved in negotiating commercial contracts, reviewing contract terms, and sending comments to the legal affairs department. Additionally, they will define high-level handling mechanisms of the contract in the Master Service Agreement (e.g., forecast mechanisms, technical aspects, and calculation of yields).

    Other key responsibilities include increasing business value with existing clients by promoting BSP capacity, facilitating key meetings to encourage business growth, collaborating with internal teams to identify and implement efficient solutions, and protecting BSP interests and reputation.

    Job Description

    The European Acquirer Business Development team drives pan-European growth through close collaboration with strategic partners and internal teams across Visa, including sales, account management, product, finance, marketing, legal, and consulting. Success depends on understanding client needs, market conditions, and achieving shared goals.

    We are seeking an Account Director to lead client engagement and maximize value for a key European regional client. This role is vital for client retention and account development within our expanding customer base. You will support a strategic client aiming to become a leading Pan-European payment technology provider. The role requires travel within Europe (20%) and is based in Milan. Responsibilities include :

    1. Develop and implement account and portfolio strategies to support client retention, revenue growth, and profitability. Focus on managing the acquiring strategy across Europe for Visa’s largest Pan-European acquirer, coordinating with local account teams across all business lines—Acquiring, Issuing, Processing.
    2. Become a trusted advisor by understanding client business deeply and aligning solutions to their needs.
    3. Provide expertise on global payment processing, issuing, and acquiring solutions, advising on features and functionalities to support client strategies.
    4. Lead execution of Pan-European initiatives and incentive agreements in collaboration with functional and market leads.
    5. Collaborate with local account managers to align regional and market strategies, ensuring coordinated efforts.
    6. Prioritize initiatives across the region in alignment with market and functional leads.
    7. Act as a customer advocate internally, working with product management, support, sales, finance, and legal teams.
    8. Lead solution development to meet customer needs, coordinating internal resources.
    9. Conduct strategic customer meetings, including quarterly reviews and executive discussions, to communicate successes and gather feedback.
    10. Analyze customer performance metrics to provide strategic recommendations and process improvements.

    This position offers a hybrid work model, allowing a mix of remote and office work, with an expectation of being in the office 2-3 days per week.

    Qualifications

    1. Strong credentials in enterprise account management and payments industry expertise.
    2. Experience building relationships at the C-suite or board level with an impressive track record.
    3. Proactive, self-motivated, with a drive to initiate change and deliver results.
    4. Ability to influence and guide multiple internal teams within a matrix organization.
    5. Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, listening, and questioning skills.

    Head of Account Management

    We're looking for an experienced and motivated leader to join our Account Management team in Italy. You will be responsible for building, mentoring, and coaching a team of team leads and account managers who are crucial to the strategic growth of our key merchant relationships and payment revenue. As a critical leader for our Italian operations, you will be a key contributor to the long-term success of Adyen in this market.

    What You'll Do

    • Provide strategic direction : Define and execute a clear, ambitious strategy for the Italian Account Management team. Empower managers to lead their teams toward ambitious commercial goals and operational excellence.
    • Mentor and develop managers : Serve as a coach and mentor for your direct reports, providing clear expectations and actionable feedback to foster their growth as leaders. Instill a culture of continuous learning and strategic thinking.
    • Drive commercial growth : Partner with key merchants at the C-level to provide strategic and consultative advice that influences their global payments strategy and expands their business with Adyen. You'll be comfortable with nuanced payment discussions, quantitative analysis, and high-level technical conversations.
    • Embody Adyen's leadership principles : Actively listen to and build trust with your team and key merchant contacts at all levels of seniority. Be a hands-on leader who can engage and inspire others, demonstrating strong emotional intelligence and judgment.
    • Maintain operational excellence : Ensure consistent and effective management practices across the team. Streamline operations and hold the team accountable for clear, consistent follow-ups and planning.
    • Recruit and develop talent : Attract and onboard new team members who embody the Adyen culture and possess the commercial acumen and strategic mindset needed for success.
