About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Design Reliability & Safety Engineer to join our global team of DfSR (Design for Safety and Reliability) experts. This role is ideal for professionals with a strong background in reliability engineering, passionate about embedding safety, robustness, and reliability into product design across multiple squads and business units.

Key Responsibilities

As a DfSR Practitioner, you will:

  • Lead the deployment of Design for Reliability and Robustness (DfSR) processes, tools, and software across multiple product squads.
  • Champion the integration of safety and reliability principles into design practices, fostering a culture of excellence.
  • Assess critical design elements and develop risk assessment plans focused on safety, robustness, and reliability.
  • Coach and guide teams in executing DfSR plans and reporting outcomes to ensure compliance with the highest standards.
  • Train and mentor design engineers in DfSR methodologies and tools, driving continuous improvement and capability building.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, or Mechatronics Engineering. Advanced degrees in Reliability Engineering are a plus.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in engineering or quality roles, with a strong focus on Design for Reliability (DfSS, DfSR), power systems, electronics, or electromechanical systems.
  • Proficiency in ReliaSoft tools and experience in Agile product development environments.
  • Strong customer orientation and application knowledge.
  • Excellent intercultural communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to mobilize cross-functional teams and lead initiatives.
  • Preferred certifications: DFSS Black Belt, Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE).
  • Experience with P-diagram-driven DFMEA development is highly desirable.
  • Coaching and project management experience is a strong advantage.

Requisiti:

The contract provider shall be certified in at least ONE of the following Specialization Prerequisites : Specialization Prerequisites for the "Competent Physician" established by the Italian DECRETO LEGISLATIVO 9 Aprile 2008, n.81, art.38 :

Italian Official license to practice medicine and specialized in the field of "Occupational Medicine" with current subscription to the professional order of Italian Competent Physicians.

Specialization in industrial medicine or preventive medicine for workers and psychotechnics;Teaching industrial medicine or preventive medicine for workers and psychotechnics, or industrial toxicology, or industrial hygiene, or industrial physiology and hygiene or industrial clinical medicine.Authorization, established by article 55 of the legislative decree of August 15, 1991, no. 277.Specialization in preventive hygiene and medicine or in legal medicine.The contract provider shall have at least five years of experience in the same or similar services in Occupational Health Services.Experience : 5+ years of occupational health servicesSoft Skills : Fluency in both Italian and English, including medical terminology (written and spoken) (Mandatory)

Key Responsibilities :

  • Conduct pre-placement, periodic, and return-to-work medical evaluations per Italian legislation (D.Lgs. 81 / 08).
  • Perform workplace risk assessments and develop surveillance protocols.
  • Provide case management for occupational injuries and illnesses within 24 hours of incident reporting.
  • Deliver training, education, and occupational health guidance to staff.
  • Submit required reports, including injury logs, workplace risk evaluations, and monthly workload statistics.
  • Participate in Medical Quality Improvement Programs and Occupational Safety and Health meetings.
  • Maintain all medical records in compliance with privacy, legal, and Navy standards.

**Duties**:

- Serves as a Nurse (Occupational Health) in a Medical Treatment facility, responsible for managing complex occupational medicine programs and providing quality care in collaboration with providers, industrial hygiene, safety, and personnel.
- Plans, develops, organizes and manages a comprehensive Occupational Health services program in accordance with Code of Federal Regulations, Office of Safety and Health Administration, Department of Defense, service components, and OPM.
- Provides nursing assessment, diagnosis and treatment and nursing care of occupational injuries and illnesses.
- Provides technical reporting, guidance and assistance in matters of Occupational Health within the servicing area to DHA, local Public Health organizations, Commanding Officers, -Continued below
- industrial hygienists, physicians, safety officers, etc.,in determining conditions, resources and policies essential to the delivery of services.

- Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
- You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
- One year trial/probationary period may be required.
- Applicants must comply with the Exceptional Family Member Program requirements as outlined in the DoD Instruction .
- Required to obtain necessary immunizations (i.e., Hepatitis B, annual influenza) unless exempted by a physician.
- May be required to wear Personnel Protective Equipment.
- This position is required to work uncommon tours of duty hours, working either fixed or rotating shift which may include evenings, weekends and/or holidays.
- Mission Essential: In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations (natural or man-made disaster) the incumbent may be required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
- This position requires Basic Life Support training certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association and American Red Cross. Current Advanced Life Support or other advanced certification does not supersede BLS completion.

**Who May Apply: US Citizens**Basic Requirement for Nurse (Occupational Health)**:
**Degree**: A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.).**Licensure**: A current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States; and you must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination.**Foreign Degree**:A degree from a Foreign Nursing School. Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools.**Exemption**: You are exempt from the basic requirements above if you are a current federal employee occupying a position in the 0610 occupational series and have been continuously employed in this occupational series since September 27, 2017 or before. Applicants claiming this exemption must meet the requirement below. Note: You will be required to provide appropriate documentation to the respective Human Resources Office to validate your status.**Professional Nursing Experience**: One or more full years of professional nursing experience which includes managing complex occupational medicine programs and providing quality care in collaboration with providers, industrial hygiene, safety, management personnel, and the employees. This definition of professional nursing experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
