Position Overview
Dealfront is seeking a Senior Finance Specialist to join our dynamic international accounting team and play a pivotal role in supporting our Nordic entities' financial operations. You’ll be primarily responsible for the preparation, reconciliation of the monthly financial statements of the Nordic entities and ensuring their compliance with accounting principles.
Responsibilities
- In our international team, you will prepare the monthly financial statements with a focus on the Nordic entities and their subsidiaries, ensuring that they comply with accounting principles.
This includes:
- Ensuring completeness, accuracy, transparency of period closings
- Reconciliation of general ledger and sub-ledgers including payroll, prepayments and fixed assets
- Correct accrual and amortisation of income and expenses, including the reconciliation of prepaid expenses of the Nordic entities and ensuring that the individual items are correctly recognised and amortised
- Daily accounting tasks like entry of vendor bills, travel expenses, and bank payments
- Fixed asset accounting and ensuring that fixed assets are correctly recognised and depreciated
- Preparing and reconciling the advance VAT returns for the Nordic entities and ensuring the correct VAT treatment of purchase and sales invoices
- Project work like improvement of our internal policies, processes and systems
- Educational qualification: certified accountant or Bachelor's or Master's degree in the field of tax, accounting or finance. Alternatively, vocational training as a tax advisor or any other commercial vocational training and several years of experience as a financial accountant.
- Knowledge of international accounting principles: Profound knowledge of international accounting principles to ensure compliance with regulations and standards.
- Good knowledge of ERP and other accounting systems: Ideally experience in Netsuite and Payhawk, SAP or Workday. You do not only know how to use them but also like to take a look under the hood.
- Industry knowledge: SaaS an advantage
- Independent and structured work: Ability to work independently, in a structured and quality-oriented manner.
- Analytical mindset: Natural affinity with numbers and an analytical mindset. You are able to interpret financial data and use it as a basis for decision-making processes.
- Language skills: Fluent in written and spoken Finnish (C1/C2) and English
- Be based in Europe, ideally in Finland

Position Overview
Dealfront is seeking a Senior Finance Specialist to join our dynamic international accounting team and play a pivotal role in supporting our Nordic entities' financial operations. You’ll be primarily responsible for the preparation, reconciliation of the monthly financial statements of the Nordic entities and ensuring their compliance with accounting principles.

About the jobWe are looking for a high calibre finance professional who can drive our financial analysis and insights to the next level. Reporting to the local Finance Director, you will have experience with building analytical models and using their financial and business acumen to help grow the business forward.
You will partner with the Head of Commercial and the commercial teams and support long-term growth by providing insightful ad-hoc analysis to expand selection, supporting negotiations, and building business cases to assess new opportunities or investments.
You will be a self-starter who is comfortable with ambiguity, is analytical, detail oriented and will possess the ability to work well with cross-functional teams across Deliveroo.
You will work in Milan, with at least 3 days a week to be worked from the office.
What you'll do- Analyse performance of the business on a weekly, monthly, quarterly basis to understand drivers of performance and synthesise findings to leadership.
- Drive ad-hoc analysis and support commercial teams to improve business performance.
- Build a business case for any new opportunities, such as new programs, new categories or incremental strategic investments.
- Develop the necessary reporting tools for understanding drivers of performance versus business case assumptions.
- Drive the financial planning process for one or more business lines by working with key stakeholders.
- Identify key financial risks and develop the framework and controls to mitigate these, including link up with other Deliveroo teams where required like accounting and tax.
- At least 6 years of relevant industry or startup experience
- Experience influencing stakeholders at senior levels, including non-finance
- Comfort in working independently in an ambiguous and fast-paced environment.
- The ability to translate large amounts of data into useful information and actionable conclusions.
- Strong written and oral communication skills combined with the ability to meet tight deadlines and prioritise workloads.
- Solid business judgement and controllership focus.
- Strong business case modelling skills, including excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel and G-Sheet

What you’ll doWorking in a global environment, the candidate will be responsible for finance operations & margin assurance processes including financial control, compliance, transformation, quality targets for all accountabilities and the delivery of related operational efficiencies. This results in an effective and efficient accounting and compliance management, including the fulfilment of all governance and statutory reporting requirements, the preparation of internal reporting and application of detailed policies and operating procedures to ensure compliance with Group standards and tax / legal / statutory requirements of the legal entities assigned.
In addition, the role will have accountabilities over the end to end tax treasury and supply chain management processes by way of direct involvement as well as coordination with external consultants. The role will work in close cooperation with the finance colleagues from the Shared Service Center organisation as well as other Group Finance & SCM functions.
Key accountabilities :
- Fully accountable for the financial accounting processes and procedures
- Responsible for the integrity of all P&L and Balance Sheet accounts under IFRS
- Ensure analysis of detailed Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow, commenting main facts and variances vs Budget / Forecast / Previous periods
- Supervise preparation of ad-hoc monthly reports including analytical reviews and variance analysis addressed to the management (CEO, Head of Finance Operations, Group Technology Finance Director, etc.)
- Prepare the annual statutory financial statements and manage statutory audit obligations
- Provide periodic reports for the statutory board of external auditors including attendance as key representative of the entity
- Review periodic intragroup recharges in line with transfer pricing policy in place
- Oversee direct and indirect tax matters, particularly day to day VAT management, corporate tax returns submission, intrastat reporting, etc.
- Contribute to treasury related matters, including oversight of bank reconciliations, bank mandates and local payment obligations
- Hold accountability for Supply Chain Management processes ensuring adherence to Group standards and practices
- Serve as main point of contact for external advisors mainly in accounting, tax and payroll related matters
- Responsible for compliance with Finance SOX controls
- Liaise with commercial finance colleagues to monitor OPEX and CAPEX spend
- Participate in the forecast process in coordination with business stakeholders, Group Reporting and Group Planning teams
- Manage transformational projects by coordinating the various stakeholders involved, including implementation of billing cycle
- Direct effective partner relation and performance management with Shared Services Center teams, as well as business partnering on new business requirements
- Create a culture of proactive continuous improvement of processes, systems and people and provide a platform for the people to develop their career and employability
Core competencies, knowledge and experience :
- Excellent communication skills to ensure a transparent representation of the results, processes and procedures and to influence multiple stakeholders
- Leadership skills and experience in managing remote and virtual teams in a complex and changing/dynamic operating environment
- Technical financial skill (financial accounting, direct/indirect tax, etc – reference Finance Operating Model) by long-term practical experience
- Can Do’ mindset with focus on customer satisfaction beyond expectations
Must have technical / professional qualifications :
- University post graduate from Finance and Accounting, Business Administration, Economics + Certified Accountants (Dottore Commercialista)
- 8+ years of working experience in FinOps, FP&A and statutory audit, either by practical delivery or through oversight
- Knowledge of IFRS
- Fluency in English (Italian is a plus)
- Experience with SAP FI, HFM and OneSource
- Experience in international organisations and in telecommunications industry would be an advantage
- Very strong cooperation, coordination, communication and presentation skills
- Analytical-minded, hardworking, innovative, adaptable, team player and leader with broad experience and understanding of performance management
