We are seeking to appoint a passionate, dedicated and motivated Computer Science / Business teacher starting from September 2025!

You will teach the Ontario Curriculum ensuring the programs are relevant, engaging and fit for purpose. Working with the Senior Leadership Team and other colleagues in the department and Student Support teams, you will contribute to the ongoing success and growth of the school through your contribution of excellent classroom practice, positive and collaborative and willingness to support the wider life of the school.

Teaching and Learning
  • Promote the ‘mission’ and philosophy of the school, ensuring that children are working towards being true global citizens;
  • Be flexible and adjust to the needs of the school, actively contributing to its development plans and growth;
  • Implement agreed policies and developments;
  • Demonstrate thorough curriculum knowledge, teach, and assess effectively;
  • Meet requirements for the assessment, evaluation, and recording of students’ development;
  • Use the student tracking and monitoring processes to advance children’s learning in line with the school’s aspirations and priorities;

Your profile Education & Training
  • Bachelor of Education degree (Ontario or equivalent);
  • Senior-level qualifications in Computer Science required;
  • Qualifications or experience in Business Studies and Technological Education highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++, and familiarity with AI concepts and machine learning tools appropriate for high school learners;
  • Experience or willingness to teach interdisciplinary or project-based learning units integrating business, technology, and computer science;
  • Commitment to differentiated instruction, assessment for / as / of learning, and student-centered learning approaches aligned with the Ontario Growing Success framework;
  • Strong communication skills, collaborative approach, and enthusiasm for working in an international and multilingual school community;
  • First language English Speaker.
Experience
  • Proven experience in teaching in High School;
  • Demonstrates creativity and a passion for teaching and a strong work ethic;
  • Experience with innovative teaching and learning;
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, negotiation, and mediation skills;

The school

Canadian School of Florence is a K-12 school with students from 3 to 18. The lower primary (Pre- Kindergarten to grade 3) campus is in San Domenico, Fiesole. The Upper primary campus (Grades 4 & 6) and Middle School campus (Grades 7-8) are also located in a nearby piazza. The Senior School (Grades 9-12) is in Florence, in a beautiful historical building, less than 2 km away from the Junior school.

Across all our campuses, courses are taught in English (except for Italian and French), based on the Canada (Ontario) curriculum with preparation, in Italian, for the Italian national exams as a “paritaria” school. Our students work towards gaining the Ontario Secondary School Diploma which is recognized by universities worldwide. We also offer the Liceo delle Scienze Umane at our high school providing an opportunity for our students to gain a dual diploma.
