We are looking for a Senior Software Quality Engineer – Field , for a Major Automotive OEM in Italy, to reproduce, analyze, and resolve software issues observed in vehicles, benches, and customer environments. The role focuses on advanced problem solving, root cause analysis, and ensuring robust countermeasures are implemented and tracked in the field.
- The role can be taken either as a freelance engagement or as a permanent employee position.

Responsibilities
- Reproduce and analyze software field issues provided by the Quality organization on benches, test vehicles, and customer vehicles.
- Deliver solid root cause analysis (technical and systemic) to enable development teams to implement robust solutions.
- Track in-field effectiveness of corrective actions and ensure closed-loop resolution.
- Apply advanced problem-solving tools (e.g., Shainin Red X, Kepner Tregoe) to resolve non-conformance issues.
- Frame issues quickly and accurately, identify problems, and propose effective resolutions.
- Collaborate with hardware, software, and validation teams to secure long-term quality improvements.
- Support software updates of ECUs and assist with debugging/logging using industry-standard tools.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- Proven experience in problem solving using structured methodologies (e.g., Shainin Red X, Kepner Tregoe).
- Experience with debugging/logging tools such as Vector CANoe, Vehicle Spy, and log analysis.
- Familiarity with HW interfaces: CAN, LIN, Ethernet, USB.
- Ability to execute ECU software updates and analyze EE architectures and vehicle networks.
- Preferred: ISTQB certification.
- Desirable: experience in manufacturing, quality, physics, statistics, or chemistry.
- Strong collaboration skills across all organizational levels, ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, and self-directed learning mindset.

Here at The Exploration Company, we are developing, producing, and operating Nyx, a modular and reusable space orbital vehicle that can eventually be refuelled in orbit and that can carry cargo - and potentially humans in the longer run.
We want you as a talented and experienced Flight Software Engineer to help us in our mission by acting as system engineer for Future Projects that prepare the future growth of the Nyx vehicles family and new products. You will be part of the In-Orbit Services team within the Future Systems Department, reporting to the Principal Engineer of the project and working closely with the other engineering disciplines.
Key Responsibilities
Duties
In your capacity as In-Orbit Services Flight Software Engineer, your role will continuously evolve, but initially your day-to-day duties will include:
- Take ownership of work packages or full future projects related to Flight Software:
- Define functional breakdowns, high level requirements and their associated flow-down and manage / maintain the technical baselines to ensure that the design answers the needs of the respective project
- Manage interfaces and requirements towards Avionics and other hardware sections
- Provide software architectures and conceptual designs, perform technical trade-offs, budget and performance calculations
- Develop elements of low-level software (operating systems, system drivers, communication protocols etc) and high-level software (applications, control algorithms etc)
- Provide development logic, implementation, verification and validation plans
- Ensure the delivery on time, on quality and on cost of the work packages in your responsibility
- In coordination with the Bid Manager, elaborate the technical and programmatic parts for Flight Software related work packages to submit winning proposals for new future projects
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field. Alternatively, five years of professional work in a related area.
- Proven experience in developing software architectures for aerospace or similar complex systems.
- Proven experience in real-time distributed system design, implementation, and debugging, with a focus on timing constraints, synchronization, and deterministic behaviour in safety-critical applications.
- Strong background in software development, with proficiency in programming languages such as C++, Python, or MATLAB/Simulink.
- Familiarity with hardware in the loop (HIL) and software in the loop (SIL) testing methodologies.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences

Sarai focalizzato su progetti in ambito Planning e/o Consolidato.

Experience and Qualifications- Born in Turin, with his bachelors degree in Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Turin and a masters in Marketing Management from the University of Economics in Turin, Eligio Catarinella began his career at the Fiat Group in 2005.
- Since then, during his 19 years of experience, he has held roles of increasing responsibility within the group in Sales & Marketing, both in Italy and abroad, gaining significant experience in the automotive sector.
- Some of the main roles he held prior to his current position include Lancia/Chrysler Head of Product Marketing for the EMEA area from 2012 to 2014, Fiat & Abarth Marketing Director for Italy from 2014 to 2016, and Alfa Romeo and Jeep Country Manager for Switzerland from 2016 to 2018.
- He then returned to Italy in early 2019 as Head of Marketing & Communication at FCA Italy, managing the product portfolio for all brands.
- In April 2020, he assumed responsibility for the Fiat & Abarth brands for Italy, taking the role of Managing Director, and was appointed Head of Alfa Romeo Global Marketing and Communication in 2023.
