The Compliance Officer provides advice and guidance to partners, lawyers, and business professionals across the full spectrum of risk and compliance issues.
The Compliance Officer reports to the OMP, GM, and RHC, and works closely with the Global Chief Risk and Compliance Officer ("CR&CO"), Head of International Compliance ("HIC"), the Risk & Compliance team, other Compliance Managers and Officers in the global network, and relevant Business Professional function managers to ensure that the Firm meets its obligations in these areas.
Role
The Compliance Officer is responsible for championing and leading the compliance function in Italy and is a trusted advisor to Partners, other fee earners, and business professionals on relevant policies, procedures, and processes. The role requires a solid understanding of the legal industry and applicable regulatory requirements. The Compliance Officer must develop excellent working relationships with the OMP, GM, and other key stakeholders. Together with the OMP and GM, the Compliance Officer will implement the compliance program in Italy.
Key Responsibilities
The Compliance Officer's key responsibilities include:
- Leading the promotion and monitoring of compliance locally, aligning with the compliance objectives set by the CR&CO.
- Implementing preventive monitoring mechanisms related to compliance objectives.
- Raising awareness of Clifford Chance global policies and procedures within local offices and providing compliance advice to partners, lawyers, and professionals.
- Participating in the creation of new global policies and promoting awareness and compliance.
- Monitoring adherence to existing global policies and drafting local policies aligned with global standards, coordinating with the RHC / HIC on any local policy differences.
- Monitoring reported incidences, reporting non-compliance, and implementing corrective actions.
- Advising the team on gifts and hospitality policies, liaising with the central compliance team for approvals, and monitoring local restrictions.
